A trailblazing surgeon with a passion for diversity and inclusion.

Samantha Tross is a Consultant Hip and Knee Surgeon – and the first black woman in the UK to be appointed, 20 years ago. She was also the first woman in Europe to perform Mako robotic hip surgery, and is a current member of the Royal College of Surgeons Council.

She is passionate about increasing diversity and inclusion in surgery, and is the Secretary of the International Orthopaedic Diversity Alliance. Samantha was also a Founding Member and Trustee of the British Association of Black Surgeons and a member of the groundbreaking Diversity Review Panel, set up to review and implement diversity standards at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She was also a member of the award-winning Cultural & Diversity Committee of the British Hip Society.

Samantha is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics for the American University of the Caribbean and External Examiner for the University of the West Indies Medical School of Trinidad & Tobago.

She is a recipient of a Black British Business Award and has been included in the Black Powerlist of the 100 most influential Black Britons since 2011.

Samantha qualified from University College London Medical School and had her surgical training in London, as well as Canada and Australia.
