Biography

I am an Associate Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Portsmouth, UK. During my PhD, I was based at the London Knowledge Lab and I obtained a PhD in Computer Science from Birkbeck College, University of London. I also hold an MSc by Research in Learning Technologies from the National College of Ireland and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from the University of Portsmouth.

My research interests are in Intelligent Systems in general and user-adaptive systems in particular, User Modelling and Personalisation, data mining and knowledge discovery, decision support, and motivation and affect.

Research interests

  • Intelligent Systems in general and user-adaptive systems in particular;
  • User Modelling and Personalisation - developing techniques for modelling users and for adaptation/personalisation
  • Data mining and knowledge discovery
  • Decision support
  • Motivation and affect - modelling of motivation and other affective characteristics; adaptation to the affective characteristics of the user
