Biography

Mr Colin Lupton is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Engineering at University of Portsmouth. He served for 25 years in the Royal Navy as a Marine Engineer and holds a BSc from the Open University which he gained whilst in the Royal Navy. Since joining the University of Portsmouth he has conducted research in the aerospace and biomedical fields and is responsible for managing the Mechanical Behaviour of Materials laboratory.

His expertise in data acquisition and hardware control allows the use of novel testing protocols this is especially of use in biomedical research where he is particularly interested in the fatigue behaviour of internal prosthetic devices such as hip implants. He has conducted several commercial investigations into the fatigue of advanced aerospace alloys. Also he has acquired data and co-authored several papers in both aerospace and biomedical materials.
